We protect ourselves, cross our arms, hold love back for fear that if we give, we'll be left with less. We treat love like a bank account that empties.

But love doesn't work that way. It's the one thing that grows when you give it. Every time you offer a genuine kindness, your own heart widens. You're not left with less; you become more.

The love you're afraid to spend is a love you believe comes from outside and is limited. The love you discover in the practice comes from within and has no bottom. Lie down, close your eyes, and feel how, beneath the fear, it's still there, intact.

Give without keeping score. You'll find the source never runs dry. Today, offer a kindness expecting nothing — and watch what happens in your own chest.
