Day 34: The Three Movements of Attention

Thoreau said: "For every thousand who cut the leaves of evil,
there is one who strikes the root."
Attention moves in three ways:
outward — the senses, the outer world.
Horizontal — thinking, reasoning.
Inward — the vertical direction, toward the Source.
Most people are never trained in the third.
You can think your whole life without getting one step closer to the root.
Ascension trains attention to move inward.
And when you reach the root, everything changes.
How much of your day is spent looking outward
versus looking inward?
