Day 9: Every System Tried

I tried every self-help and spiritual system you have probably heard of: Anthony Robbins, Louise Hay, A Course in Miracles, Reiki, Rebirthing, Transcendental Meditation, and so many more that I cannot even remember them all. Each one gave me about a month of hope, a month of feeling like I had finally found the answer. And then, like clockwork, the same emptiness would return, and I would be off searching for the next system, the next teacher, the next promise. I thought I was broken, that nothing could fix me. What I did not understand then is that those systems were painting the walls when the foundation was cracked. They were not going deep enough. What finally worked was simpler than any of them: lying down, eyes open, watching my thoughts like waves. No system. No belief. Just watching.
