The fourth root belief is the one that leaves you feeling completely alone even when you are surrounded by people: you are separate from everyone else. They do not understand me. No one sees me for who I really am. I am alone in this crowded room. There are over eight billion people on this planet, and most of us feel fundamentally alone most of the time. That is the root. When you watch your thoughts without judgment, you see this wave too — the lonely wave, the misunderstood wave, the “no one gets me” wave. But here is the truth that has transformed my life: we are not separate. We have never been separate. We are all one consciousness having different experiences, the same source expressing through different forms. When you watch your own thoughts without judgment, you begin to feel that oneness. You realize that the voice that says “I am alone” is just a wave. And waves pass. You are not alone. You never were.
