Day 14: The Third Root — Separate from God

The third root belief is perhaps the most painful of all because it cuts you off from your own source. It is the belief that you are separate from God, from the infinite, from whatever name you give to the divine. God is up there, and I am down here. I am a sinner, unworthy, a speck of dust begging for attention. Or maybe you do not believe in God at all, but you still feel the separation — you feel alone in a vast, indifferent universe. Either way, the root is the same: you believe you are not the source. When you watch your thoughts without judgment, you see this wave too — the lonely wave, the separate wave, the wave that says “I am cut off.” But listen to me carefully: you are not separate. You never were. Separation is the illusion you agreed to so you could play this game of limitation. Watching your thoughts reveals the illusion. You do not need to earn your way back. You just need to watch, and remember that you never left.
