The second root belief is the one that tells you something is wrong with your body and with the world around you. I am too fat, too thin, too old, too young, too short, too tall. My skin is wrong, my hair is wrong, my face is wrong. And then it expands outward: the government is broken, the economy is a disaster, the planet is dying, people are terrible, everything is getting worse. You have been taught to hate your own skin and to rage at the world, and that constant dissatisfaction feeds the root. When you watch your thoughts without judgment, you see these waves too — the critical ones, the angry ones, the hopeless ones. You do not have to fight them. You just watch them. And here is what I have discovered: you cannot change the world from judgment. Judgment just creates more of what you are judging. You change the world from peace, and peace starts inside one body — yours — as you watch your thoughts without fighting them.
